Entry 056: HELLO GORGEOUS!

DSCN0910Hi Fashionistas!

Fall is the fashion industry’s New Year, so it’s only fitting that one would kick off the opening of a new, bold, beautiful and trendy boutique during this very fashionable time of year!

It’s Saturday, I arrive at the grand opening of Hello Gorgeous, located in Downtown, Rahway, NJ. I walk into fashion Heaven! The decor has a vintage appeal and you literally want to take the furniture home in addition to a few new pieces of clothing. The DJ is playing all the music I know and love, the patrons are browsing and pulling looks and making their way to the register to purchase. There’s so much going on and the energy inside is upbeat and very welcoming. I walk over to introduce myself to the owners Cristal and Chyreise who were kind enough to invite me to attend and blog about the event.

Everyone is so pleasant. As I made my way around the boutique to look at all the beautiful pieces on display; I take notice of how the owners are interacting with their clients. It’s so refreshing to see them engaging their clients and helping them select pieces to fit their fashion personalities! Some places you go to only want to sell you the item, but Cristal and Chyreise take their time to help the clients pick options that will work best for them. There’s a Henna Artist, drinks and desserts are flowing all around and everyone is in a great mood.

I love that the boutique is an intimate space. I love intimate settings and the feeling of personalized shopping is refreshing. Oftentimes, you go into these huge stores and there’s no one around to help you if needed and it’s so impersonal. The price point for the clothing and accessories are very reasonable and you won’t have to break the bank to look great!

Overall, this was an awesome experience and I am so glad that Cristal and Chyreise reached out to me to attend and blog for their special event! This is a boutique that is going to be a permanent fixture in Rahway and I hope that you all get the chance to experience the quality pieces, great prices and overall great service. If you are not in or near the area, you can always shop online! For more photos from the Hello Gorgeous Grand Opening, click here

Entry 047: Reflecting On Relationships

So, this past weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting with a fellow blogger and fly guy George Myrie and chatted about relationships. It got me to thinking about my own relationships, or lack thereof.

More often than not, we (women) don’t want to ask ourselves questions about our shortcomings when it comes to relationships because we’re afraid of the answer. It’s important to self-reflect and take a long hard look at what’s happening in our lives to figure out how to correct the wrongs. I’ve constantly struggled with the question. Why are my intimate relationships so unsuccessful? After years of searching and getting kicked in the face by love, I found my answer.

It’s ME. I have a fear of ending up a lonely spinster, so I give a lot of myself too soon; thinking that they will go elsewhere if not given all they desire. I want to show my mate that I’m willing to do my part to make him happy that I’m losing myself in the process. As women, we are so happy to be with someone that we miss a lot of the warning signs or in my case, I ignore them. I recently had an incident that left me wondering what I’m doing wrong. It’s not that I’m doing anything wrong; I am simply giving too much too soon. I don’t make the man of interest work tirelessly or jump through rings of fire for my love because I give of myself so freely when I’m involved. I’m a woman who is extremely passionate about love, building relationships, quality time and all those things that make a relationship successful.  I’ve always made myself accessible, but I’m learning that I need to be a little less available so I can take the time to smoke a brother over and see if he’s really here for me or my “sweetness.”

The bottom line for me is…Slow down! If recent events have taught me nothing else, it taught me that the other party involved may not be as interested and/or invested as I am or hasn’t reached the level of maturity to deal with a woman like me. So, I take my time, allow myself to be courted and allow the relationship to progress organically and if they’re too eager to taste my sweetness; they’re probably only there for that in the first place.

Entry 019: Leopard, The Ultimate Neutral!

Blazers hold a special place in my heart…I know, I know, it’s not quite fall, but it was raining today (any excuse to put on a blazer). I didn’t feel like being exposed, so the perfect piece of clothing to cover up is a blazer! You’ve got to pay attention to detail when wearing prints such as leopard, as they can be overwhelming and can sometimes be worn inappropriately. Everyone knows I love leopard printed pieces and mixing patterns and prints. Leopard is ultimate neutral and can be paired with other prints and solids. If done right, you can really create a bold, groundbreaking look (I will be doing a post on mixing prints soon).decided to pair it with some basic blue skinny jeans and a tank top since it was a casual Friday! I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy the week ahead! Thanks for stopping by! XOXOIMG_2416-1.JPG
