Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve been here, but I am happy to be back and getting on track with what I love! Fashion and taking pictures! As you can see, I’ve recently gone completely BALD! I absolutely love it and I feel so free! I’ve been away for a bit, as I have been going through a lot with my health. As you know I’m a diabetic, but it’s improving with the help of proper diet, exercise and great support. Sometimes, when your heart isn’t in something, you should put it down for a while, regroup and come back better than you left. Never be in a rush to produce something that is not going to be your very best. My life revolves around presentation and I don’t put out content that I will not be proud of and that you won’t find value in. I hope that you will continue to take this journey with me! Entry 060: Getting To Your Destination

Even a snail will eventually reach its destination.

In life, there are always going to be obstacles and things that set you back from reaching goals you’ve set for yourself. No one is exempt. In my forty years of life and twenty being an adult, I’ve had many, but when I set a goal; I see it through to the end. I was out of work for quite some time, but no one knew unless you were close to me. I kept myself together, mentally, physically and spiritually. I continued to do the things I needed to do and looked for work. I was given a few opportunities to do some things to get my name out there and I blogged more and more. It’s a slow process, but I’m moving in the right direction. I kept going, not just for myself, but for my son. Our children and people we don’t even know are looking to us for inspiration. You can’t let minor setbacks keep you from getting to the finish line. Everything happens in the time it is meant to, so don’t fret when something doesn’t happen on your specific timeline. God’s timing is the absolute best, so wait on him, but keep pushing because you will absolutely get to the place in which you wish to go.
Whatever you want from life, whatever destination you wish to reach; P. U. S. H., move in silence and let those accomplishments speak for you!

Entry 056: HELLO GORGEOUS!

Hi Fashionistas!

Fall is the fashion industry’s New Year, so it’s only fitting that one would kick off the opening of a new, bold, beautiful and trendy boutique during this very fashionable time of year!

It’s Saturday, I arrive at the grand opening of Hello Gorgeous, located in Downtown, Rahway, NJ. I walk into fashion Heaven! The decor has a vintage appeal and you literally want to take the furniture home in addition to a few new pieces of clothing. The DJ is playing all the music I know and love, the patrons are browsing and pulling looks and making their way to the register to purchase. There’s so much going on and the energy inside is upbeat and very welcoming. I walk over to introduce myself to the owners Cristal and Chyreise who were kind enough to invite me to attend and blog about the event.

Everyone is so pleasant. As I made my way around the boutique to look at all the beautiful pieces on display; I take notice of how the owners are interacting with their clients. It’s so refreshing to see them engaging their clients and helping them select pieces to fit their fashion personalities! Some places you go to only want to sell you the item, but Cristal and Chyreise take their time to help the clients pick options that will work best for them. There’s a Henna Artist, drinks and desserts are flowing all around and everyone is in a great mood.

I love that the boutique is an intimate space. I love intimate settings and the feeling of personalized shopping is refreshing. Oftentimes, you go into these huge stores and there’s no one around to help you if needed and it’s so impersonal. The price point for the clothing and accessories are very reasonable and you won’t have to break the bank to look great!

Overall, this was an awesome experience and I am so glad that Cristal and Chyreise reached out to me to attend and blog for their special event! This is a boutique that is going to be a permanent fixture in Rahway and I hope that you all get the chance to experience the quality pieces, great prices and overall great service. No matter what you do in the summer, you will never really be able to cool down! It’s HOT, but I am not complaining. I long for hot summer days and dressing in comfortable clothing. This isn’t exactly the best weather to wear makeup, but I managed to capture my shots before the foundation dripped off my face. I’m wearing some old pieces paired with shorts that I purchased from H&M recently. I have so many things that I haven’t worn, so I am trying to get those things worn before this summer ends! I hope you all have a fabulous day and manage to beat the heat!

Entry 040: Peplum + Puzzle Pieces + Bows

When we think of the month of April, we think of rain and lots of it! I think of Autism awareness and what it means to millions of families, including mine. I’m a single mom of a teenage boy who is on the spectrum. I love it when I can bring my passion and a cause together! I was looking for a fashion forward way to bring awareness to autism, so I had a custom envelope clutch made by a designer here in New Jersey. I love to bring a fashionable awareness to causes that are near and dear to my heart. The clutch is about two years old, but it looks brand new. April 2nd is world autism awareness day and everyone lights it up, Blue! So to bring awareness to the disability, I’ll be doing just that and you should do the same. More and more children are being diagnosed with Autism and we need to continue to research and find a way to eradicate this disability! I hope you enjoyed my post!

Entry 039: A Printed Spring

In an effort to regrow my hair, I decided to get what is called a quick weave, also known as a stocking cap weave. It’s a chance for me to leave my hair alone and let the grow out process continue without interruption. This is my first time getting this done and I think it looks pretty good. I haven’t seen myself with hair since October, 2013 so it’s a little weird. I love being versatile with my looks and I plan to get other styles in the future.

Now, let’s talk about my attire! I have an abundance of clothing, but lately, I haven’t been getting dressed a lot because I’m not working at a typical 9-5… Most of my things are collecting dust, but I am hoping that will soon change since the season is changing. Heading out to run errands and things, I opted for something chic, but comfortable…at least for me. I love pairing the old with the new! There are many things you can do with what’s already in your closet, don’t be afraid to repeat pieces…you bought them, wear them!

When you think of spring, you think of florals of course, but florals and motorcycle jackets? Who would have thought the two would go together so perfectly?! Floral prints are so feminine and girly and I love that they’re being presented in a much edgier way! This is a jacket that you will see me in more often than not. I have been holding on to it for some time and could not wait to wear it when the weather permitted. Although it’s quite windy, the sun was out and that was enough for me. Now that the weather is beginning to break, you will find me in much lighter outerwear. I absolutely hate heavy clothing.

If you live on the east coast, you know the winter we’ve been having, so it’s no surprise that today I decided to step out and and enjoy this lovely 60° weather! I’ve been sort of trapped in the house due to horrible weather and feeling not so great, but today, I figured I’d get out for a little sun! I wanted to keep my look simple since I had some running around to do. I opted for some two-toned skinny jeans, a DIY off the shoulder sweatshirt and my nude pumps! I’m so excited that spring is near and I can’t wait to share my upcoming looks with you!

Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending Haus of Swag’s event #TheDollHausProject! It was one of the most amazing events I’ve been to this year. There were vendors, bloggers and other entrepreneurs in attendance and I got to meet some really amazing people! As a new blogger, it’s important to network and get to know other bloggers.
