Entry 056: HELLO GORGEOUS!

DSCN0910Hi Fashionistas!

Fall is the fashion industry’s New Year, so it’s only fitting that one would kick off the opening of a new, bold, beautiful and trendy boutique during this very fashionable time of year!

It’s Saturday, I arrive at the grand opening of Hello Gorgeous, located in Downtown, Rahway, NJ. I walk into fashion Heaven! The decor has a vintage appeal and you literally want to take the furniture home in addition to a few new pieces of clothing. The DJ is playing all the music I know and love, the patrons are browsing and pulling looks and making their way to the register to purchase. There’s so much going on and the energy inside is upbeat and very welcoming. I walk over to introduce myself to the owners Cristal and Chyreise who were kind enough to invite me to attend and blog about the event.

Everyone is so pleasant. As I made my way around the boutique to look at all the beautiful pieces on display; I take notice of how the owners are interacting with their clients. It’s so refreshing to see them engaging their clients and helping them select pieces to fit their fashion personalities! Some places you go to only want to sell you the item, but Cristal and Chyreise take their time to help the clients pick options that will work best for them. There’s a Henna Artist, drinks and desserts are flowing all around and everyone is in a great mood.

I love that the boutique is an intimate space. I love intimate settings and the feeling of personalized shopping is refreshing. Oftentimes, you go into these huge stores and there’s no one around to help you if needed and it’s so impersonal. The price point for the clothing and accessories are very reasonable and you won’t have to break the bank to look great!

Overall, this was an awesome experience and I am so glad that Cristal and Chyreise reached out to me to attend and blog for their special event! This is a boutique that is going to be a permanent fixture in Rahway and I hope that you all get the chance to experience the quality pieces, great prices and overall great service. If you are not in or near the area, you can always shop online! For more photos from the Hello Gorgeous Grand Opening, click here

Entry 050: My 50th Post…Remembering My Dad

DSCN0259

How fitting…My parents were together for 50 years and this is my fiftieth post! One year ago today, I lost the only MAN that meant the world to me, My father! Words cannot express how much I miss him. As I write this post, Whitney Houston is playing and I am drowning in tears. If you know me, you know that I am a true Daddy’s girl! We had the most special relationship and living without him has been painful, to say the least. I am trying everyday, to be strong and continue his legacy, but it is the most difficult thing to do. I constantly wonder if I’ve made him proud. He told me many times, so I should just take comfort in that. One of the many things my Dad taught me was to never give up on anything or anyone and I strive to make people better through my actions and interactions. I don’t want to go on and be sad about losing him, but I can’t help it.

My Dad was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He lit everything and everyone up around him and his smile could brighten up the darkest of days. Today, my mother, sisters, son, niece and nephew visit his grave at the National Cemetery to reflect and remember the great man that he was! He shaped all of our lives and I don’t know where any of us would be without him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post! Until next time!

Hello Dolls and Guys!

Sunday night was a great night celebrating a great indie film! I was blessed to be a part of the crew that brought this film, Date N’ Game: The Movie together. Being a stylist is one of many things I love to do and I’m blessed to be able to exhibit my talent in this movie. Thank you, Kel Spencer for seeing my talent and allowing me to make my dream a reality. It was a celebration of hard work and a dream coming to fruition. This is only the beginning. A few photos of the cast and crew from the movie!

XOXO

Entry 037: Spring Into Spring 2015

Looking to spruce up your spring wardrobe? With tomorrow marking the first official day of spring (although it will snow) there are only a few things that you need to add to your closet to make this spring one to remember!shoecult 1. Stacked heels – are back in a big way! I was born in the 70s and I am partial to that era in fashion. Stacked heels, unlike stiletto’s are very easy to walk in and give you more balance. Pair them with wide legged jeans for a cool 70s feel.

2. Menswear shoes – As much as I LOVE heels, flats are a must and are very popular right now. you can do so much with flats. you can dress them up or down; with jeans, skirts and dresses!

clear agenda

3. Bucket Bags! – They’re fashionable and functional. If you’re like me, you carry a lot in your purse unless you’re wearing a clutch. I have to carry medication and other necessities, so the bigger the bag, the better.

4. Printed clutches – The best way to print mix is to add a printed clutch and you are instantly in style!

5. Pearl Chokers – Pearls are coming back in a big way. They aren’t just for breakfast at Tiffany’s. You can add pearls to just about any outfit to make a classy statement. To make it a little edgy, make it a choker with pearls! You’re sure to turn a few heads.

6. Big Hats – I for one, am not a fan of hats. I love them, but I don’t wear them much. This is something that I would like to add to my fashion repertoire

More looks from me coming soon, so STAY TUNED!

Thanks for stopping by!

Entry 026: Green, but not with envy…

So, last Friday was Halloween and I attended a Hallowedding with a friend! It was the most unorthodox wedding I’d ever attended, but it was a lot of fun! I don’t dress up for Halloween, but I opted to wear my beautiful green peplum dress from KTR Collection and my bow pumps from Steven by Steve Madden! IMG_2495.JPGIMG_2494.JPG

Entry 017: Naturally, Neutral

Since, I can remember, I’ve been a fan of headwraps. I used to wear them all the time 10+ years ago, but I go through so many changes with my hair it’s a shame, lol! Today, I decided to dress a bit modest, as I was visiting my dad. He hates that I cut my hair, so I kept it covered so he wouldn’t talk about it. It worked! I purchased several different patterns from the fabric store here in NJ (one yard each) and made beautiful head pieces. My jumpsuit is from forever 21, my shoes are from NastyGal (shoe cult). I hope you all had a fantastic day!
