Entry 054: Hello September!

Hello fashionistas!

I love blogging and sharing with you, my looks and life experiences. I took some time away to get my house in order (literally and figuratively). I removed a lot of clutter from my life on many levels and am now feeling like I can conquer the world with a clear mind. It’s always a good idea to do some purging in your life to help make room for the more important things. I’m on a journey and things are coming to pass that I didn’t think were even possible.

Now, on to the fashion of this post! I am challenging myself this season by not shopping too much and attempting to wear all the things that I have currently, in my wardrobe. You may see some new pieces, but for the most part, there will be a lot of vintage pieces in upcoming posts. There’s nothing better than being able to create great looks with what you already own. I got these floral high waisted pants and top from Zara in May and wore it right before the weather got hot. I love it so much that I thought about the different ways I could style them separately. I can think of several ways to style these two pieces, but for starters, I decided to style them with denim and chambray for the fall.

Thanks for stopping by!

Entry 050: My 50th Post…Remembering My Dad

DSCN0259

How fitting…My parents were together for 50 years and this is my fiftieth post! One year ago today, I lost the only MAN that meant the world to me, My father! Words cannot express how much I miss him. As I write this post, Whitney Houston is playing and I am drowning in tears. If you know me, you know that I am a true Daddy’s girl! We had the most special relationship and living without him has been painful, to say the least. I am trying everyday, to be strong and continue his legacy, but it is the most difficult thing to do. I constantly wonder if I’ve made him proud. He told me many times, so I should just take comfort in that. One of the many things my Dad taught me was to never give up on anything or anyone and I strive to make people better through my actions and interactions. I don’t want to go on and be sad about losing him, but I can’t help it.

My Dad was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He lit everything and everyone up around him and his smile could brighten up the darkest of days. Today, my mother, sisters, son, niece and nephew visit his grave at the National Cemetery to reflect and remember the great man that he was! He shaped all of our lives and I don’t know where any of us would be without him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post! Until next time!

No matter what you do in the summer, you will never really be able to cool down! It’s HOT, but I am not complaining. I long for hot summer days and dressing in comfortable clothing. This isn’t exactly the best weather to wear makeup, but I managed to capture my shots before the foundation dripped off my face. I’m wearing some old pieces paired with shorts that I purchased from H&M recently. I have so many things that I haven’t worn, so I am trying to get those things worn before this summer ends! I hope you all have a fabulous day and manage to beat the heat!

Until Next Time!

In an effort to regrow my hair, I decided to get what is called a quick weave, also known as a stocking cap weave. It’s a chance for me to leave my hair alone and let the grow out process continue without interruption. This is my first time getting this done and I think it looks pretty good. I haven’t seen myself with hair since October, 2013 so it’s a little weird. I love being versatile with my looks and I plan to get other styles in the future.

Now, let’s talk about my attire! I have an abundance of clothing, but lately, I haven’t been getting dressed a lot because I’m not working at a typical 9-5… Most of my things are collecting dust, but I am hoping that will soon change since the season is changing. Heading out to run errands and things, I opted for something chic, but comfortable…at least for me. I love pairing the old with the new! There are many things you can do with what’s already in your closet, don’t be afraid to repeat pieces…you bought them, wear them!
Thanks for stopping by!

Entry 029: Urban Chic

Are you one of those fashionistas who purchase things and wear them months later?! I am! I purchased these trendy boots from ZigiNY a year ago and I’m just getting around to wearing them. I am not a person who specializes in urban wear, but I really liked them and they are the closest I will get to wearing actual Timberland boots! I was hanging out with my family in Brooklyn and I wanted to be comfortable, but still chic! This is sort of out of the box for me (the boots, that is). I love to play around with different looks. I believe that one should dress according to their moods. My mood right now is fun, edgy and free! These boots are high, studded and funky like my hair! Even if you know what works for you; you can still have fun with your fashion choices and try something you wouldn’t normally try. It makes for great conversation with people who would not DARE step out of their comfort zone.IMG_3724-1.JPG

Entry 022: New York State Of Mind…

Okay, I’m a Jersey girl, but I LOVE New York City! Every chance I get; I visit the city because I love to take in the scenery, the tourists, the shopping, the food and just be out and about with the people of New York City. Lately, I haven’t had a chance to go out to the city as much as I would like to, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t still show it love. A couple of weeks ago I was checking my emails and came across an email from Kohl’s about Ellie Tahari for DesigNation! Naturally I wanted to pick up some things but I’m trying to stay away from shopping for just a little while but I couldn’t pass up this lovely little Georgette top with the view of New York City and yellow taxis across. I decided to wear it with one of my favorite Rock & Republic jeans that I’ve had for years now and some tiger print wedges I purchased about a year and a half ago from Zara. Although it’s fall it’s still very warm out so I didn’t want to cover up my toes just yet! XOXO💙IMG_0197.JPG

Entry 019: Leopard, The Ultimate Neutral!

Blazers hold a special place in my heart…I know, I know, it’s not quite fall, but it was raining today (any excuse to put on a blazer). I didn’t feel like being exposed, so the perfect piece of clothing to cover up is a blazer! You’ve got to pay attention to detail when wearing prints such as leopard, as they can be overwhelming and can sometimes be worn inappropriately. Everyone knows I love leopard printed pieces and mixing patterns and prints. Leopard is ultimate neutral and can be paired with other prints and solids. If done right, you can really create a bold, groundbreaking look (I will be doing a post on mixing prints soon).decided to pair it with some basic blue skinny jeans and a tank top since it was a casual Friday! I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy the week ahead! Thanks for stopping by! XOXOIMG_2416-1.JPG

Entry 009: White Hot For Spring!

When is the right time to wear white shoes? There are so many do’s and dont’s when it comes to fashion and white shoes are no exception! I personally feel that you should wear what you like whenever you like. Fashion is subjective and your interpretation of style. I love white! Whether it’s shoes, bags or clothing; I like to experiment with different style and play with color (or the absence of). I’m patiently awaiting spring so I may explore new, more mature styles that fit my personality. It has been a COLD and BRUTAL winter and I’m anxious to put away all my lovely coats. Stay tuned for more fashion and style from this New Jersey Belle! 💋❤️

In the meantime; check out this lovely shoe from Zara!

Entry 003: Summer Meets Fall

DSCF1142DSCF1138DSCF1125 DSCF1124 DSCF1121DSCF1179Today was a beautiful day in my town, so I decided to take a ride to the park and take in the nice weather. I always loved the fall season because it’s the best time to layer and play with different seasons. I love this dress so much and I wasn’t quite ready to put it away, so I paired it with a Chambray shirt and ankle booties from Zara. I hope you all had a wonderful day! Until next time…
